Description
Pilates is a systematic full-body workout to strengthen the deep muscles and mobilize the spine and joints. It consists of strength and stretching exercises as well as conscious breathing. Conventional muscle and body training tends to build up short, bulky, and consequently injury-prone muscles. Pilates, on the other hand, lengthens and strengthens muscle elasticity and joint mobility. The Pilates body training method was developed by Joseph Pilates over 100 years ago. The method consists of over 500 resistance exercises, which are performed either on specially developed resistance equipment or on a mat. Pilates exercises focus on strengthening and strengthening the core of the body. Deep breathing also helps to relax and to strengthen body awareness.
