Honey From Spain

In 1985, I was 22 years old, our first son was born, Jonathan, and a friend who came to see him gave me a book on beekeeping and pollination. I read it with great enthusiasm and interest, three times in a row, and I said to myself: this is what I want to do in life, I want to be a beekeeper. I bought three Layens hives and I spent my spare time unpacking pallets and with the wood I made new hives. The following year I bought 10 beehives from a beekeeper in Zaragoza, in order to quickly divide and increase the number of beehives on the farm. I finished the year with 30 hives. Almost every day I went to see them; the joy was incredible. It was not my exclusive dedication but I wanted it with all my strength. In 1990 we had 300 hives, the wholesale price of honey was laughable and we decided to sell it handcrafted. We had a bar and it was our star point of sale.
