About company
From the box stall to the Milky Way - everything at the Lower Saxony Milky Way revolves around milk. Cyclists big and small get an insight into modern dairy farming along three bike tours. Farmers open their gates for a farm tour by prior arrangement. Groups can test their knowledge of milk and obtain the milk magister. The idea for the Lower Saxony Milky Way came from Reinhard Seevers as part of an ideas competition organized by the Kreissparkasse Stade and the Stader Tageblatt: The Stade district has the densest concentration of dairy farms in all of northern Germany. So why not link them to a Milky Way? In 2000, the first section of the Lower Saxony Milky Way was opened. At some point the Lower Saxony Milky Way will stretch through all of Lower Saxony. On the 3 milk tours, 12 farms and a dairy currently provide an insight into modern dairy farming. THE BEST MILK COMES FROM THE MILKY WAY Geversdorf. That the Milky Way keeps what it promises is now also documented: The "Herman von Rossum GbR" from Geversdorf on the Lower Saxony Milky Way can count itself among the "Best Milk Producers in Lower Saxony 2011". As part of the 11th Milchland Prize, Karin and Hermann van Rossum were awarded a certificate and a "Mini-Olga" by the Lower Saxony Minister of Agriculture, Gert Lindemann. As part of a festive event in early December, the Lower Saxony dairy industry honored the best twelve of its 11,800 dairy farmers with the "Milchlandpreis 2011". REGIONAL FOOD CULTURE - THE HASENFLEET DAIRY IS THERE! For all friends of local delicacies, blue plaques with white chef's hat point the way to special culinary experiences. The regional food culture plaque adorns a total of 25 businesses in the Altes Land on the Elbe River and in Cuxland. Strict criteria are placed on production, purchasing and the range of products. The regional ambience is just as important. In addition to producers and farm shops, restaurants, cafés and farms are also recognized. The Hasenfleet dairy in Oberndorf is also there! The network of regional food culture "Elbe Weser North Sea" belongs to the European network "Culinary Heritage", in which 20 regions are currently working together.
