Description
What is unique about the ZPC School's Realgymnasium is the combination of demanding lessons up to the Matura level and the intensive experience of everyday Jewish life. The atmosphere is characterized by a strong connection to the State of Israel. In our AHS we accompany the students in their personal and intellectual adulthood and to the Matura. This is how we lay the foundation for her further academic training and her later professional careers at home and abroad.
The curriculum of the private school with public law includes Jewish history and Hebrew together with mathematics, German, foreign languages, natural sciences, geography, economics, sports and other subjects. The pupils are taught by dedicated teachers such as the well-known and popular Jewish University Professor Klaus Davidowicz. In the lower level, the showcase project of the "New Viennese Middle School" is implemented as a school experiment. The teaching is based on the AHS curriculum. An important advantage is that more teaching staff are available to the classes and subjects such as learning training can be introduced.
The shared experience of celebrations and commemorations is as much a formative experience for Jewish identity as the morning prayer in the school synagogue. As part of the curriculum, students in 5th grade organize a commemorative event for Yom Hashoah and those in 6th grade the official IKG celebration for Yom Haazmaut.
An important focus is on foreign languages. The English lessons are accompanied by native speakers and supplemented by intensive projects such as "English in Action". In some classes, English is also used as the working language, with geography classes being held in the foreign language. The exchange of students with the New York Heshel School has a long tradition. French, Spanish and Russian are also available.
In addition, particularly talented young people meet at the ZPC Literature Club and test themselves in creative writing. Others take part in mathematics courses at the University of Vienna as part of “Schüler an den Uni”. Our head boy is a participant of the Austrian student parliament in the National Council. The pupils showed their skills in numerous competitions such as "Exactly Right" from the City School Council for Vienna, "Eduard" from the daily newspaper "Die Presse" or the speech competition "Sag's Multi".
As part of the ZPC Career Center, the pupils get an insight into the world of work and are supported in the later choice of studies. Representatives of the university and successful alumni are available for questions and contacts at the annual “ZPC Career Day” for the Matura class.
The rooms are designed for modern teaching: library, computer room, specially equipped rooms for science subjects and a work room, as well as the dining room, the large school yard and cozy relaxation areas are available to the students.
