About company
Three centuries ago ...
The miners of the ironworks quench hunger and thirst here. At that time there was an “Erzhäusle” at this point, so that “the miners can eat the dear Brodt truck”. However, this "little house" was quite small and modestly furnished. But in 1754 a larger house was built that even had "a wooden clock with a metal bell".
At the beginning of the last century, the official land register reports: The house has two wings, has an extension and is a floor high made of wood, with a small turret, simply covered with panels (the turret with sheet metal). It contains the living room, chamber, kitchen, pantry and an attic.
Exactly 100 years ago, a new house, today's Saalbau, was added, and a tunnel is still located on the northeast corner. Beer was first served to miners here around 1840.
The "Hutmann" at the time, as the resident was called, was the founder and the first landlord of the Waldgasthof.
The smelting works itself received the concession in 1908 and leased the economy until 1909. Under Merk, it was then continued in its own operation and leased again from 1929.
But the ravages of time gnawed at this building too. In the spring of 1956, the old house was demolished and rebuilt. The hall building was also given a new look.
In autumn 1973 the whole property was renovated by the new owner Karl Hägele.
Even with its name, the “ore mine” still keeps memories of the centuries-old ore mining on Braunenberg alive.
