The King Sejong Institute (in Hangul 세종 학당) was launched in 2007 by the South Korean government in order to provide language students and teachers with a comprehensive integrated service on Korean language and culture. There are currently 174 King Sejong Institutes in the world within 58 countries. The name Sejong comes from the fourth king of the Joseon dynasty, who created the alphabet in 1446.
The King Sejong Institute of Las Palmas was created in 2013, being the first King Sejong Institute awarded to a Spanish University. Since our inception, our aim has been to present a level of teaching of excellence, and we have also held a wide variety of cultural events that bring Korean culture to Spain. Our faculty is made up of officially approved and trained teachers in the teaching of the Korean language for foreigners. With many years in our city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, they are fluent speakers of Spanish, which is a great help when it comes to teaching our Spanish students a language as different from ours as Korean.
Additionally, dozens of our students have enjoyed the opportunity to get academic scholarships to visit and study in South Korea. Every year that passes our activity increases, and we hope that if you are interested you will become one more member of our family.
