ABOUT US We started Skyler to offer premium quality mattresses at affordable prices, while simplifying the mattress shopping experience Our Shopping Trip It started with a shopping trip between two childhood friends, Jason and Alex. Jason needed a mattress for his new apartment, while Alex wanted to replace his old spring mattress that had started to sag. We visited a few department stores and furniture shops to try shopping for a new mattress. We were shocked at what we found... Skyler Boxes Over-Priced, Slow Delivery and Cutting the Mattress in Half? There had to be a better way... At every store we went to we felt overwhelmed and helpless. There were so many different brands, models and fancy-sounding names, but none of it meant anything to us. How were they all different? Why did some cost three times as much as others? Nobody had a good answer. The good mattresses we liked, ones with firm back support but a comfortable top layer, were ridiculously expensive, costing tens of thousands of dollars for a standard double mattress. Not only that, but it would take 2 to 3 weeks for a new mattress to get delivered, which meant Jason couldn't move in to his new apartment for weeks. And to fit larger sized mattresses into the lift, the stores said they would have to cut the mattress in half and then glue it back together. Literally, saw the mattress in half. It sounded crazy.
